The turn of the twentieth century brought forth this intriguing silver dollar, minted in the year 1900 at the New Orleans facility. Carrying a face value of one dollar, this coin belongs to the celebrated Morgan Dollar series, a design that circulated throughout the United States for roughly eight decades. Crafted from 90 percent silver, each of these historic pieces contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is shown wearing a traditional Phrygian cap, with her hair band clearly displaying the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars, the date 1900, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. This particular specimen has been certified in Almost Uncirculated 50 condition, preserving the fine details of its original engraving. The reverse side presents a powerful bald eagle holding both arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Arcing above the eagle is the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, while the outer rim is inscribed with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination, ONE DOLLAR. Positioned below the wreath is the O mint mark, indicating its origin at the New Orleans Mint, which is of particular interest to variety enthusiasts studying the dies of this transition era.
