0.7734 troy oz .900 1900 Brilliant Unc (PCGS)

The turn of the twentieth century brought a sense of progress and change, captured beautifully in the 1900 Morgan Silver Dollar. Minted in New Orleans, this coin is struck from 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. Having survived more than a century in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it offers a remarkably clear look at the artistry of late nineteenth-century American coinage. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap. This symbolic headwear is decorated with a wreath of cotton balls and wheat stalks, representing the agricultural abundance of the nation. The year 1900 is inscribed at the bottom of the design. The reverse side displays a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread wide. In its talons, the national bird holds a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace. The New Orleans origin is marked by the letter O, which is situated just below the wreath surrounding the eagle.
