1900-S $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle MS-63 PCGS

0.9675 troy oz .900 1900 PCGS

In 1900, the San Francisco facility of the United States Mint struck this impressive twenty dollar gold coin. Containing 0.9675 troy ounces of gold, this issue belongs to a long-running series produced from 1850 to 1907. This particular specimen has been certified as Mint State 63, preserving the fine details of its nineteenth-century artistry. The obverse presents a classic profile of Lady Liberty, who is encircled by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The year 1900 is inscribed at the bottom. On the reverse, designer James B. Longacre placed a majestic eagle with wings spread wide, bearing a protective shield upon its breast. Above the eagle, an oval of thirteen stars is bathed in rays of light. Legible inscriptions on the reverse include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination "TWENTY DOLLARS". The mottoes "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" are also integrated into the reverse design, alongside the "S" mintmark that denotes its origin from the West Coast minting facility.
