The 1901 Morgan Silver Dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this coin is distinguished by the absence of a mint mark, a traditional feature for issues from the nation's primary minting facility. Each of these historic pieces contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, with a composition that is 90 percent pure. On the obverse, the design showcases a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom, adorned with a hair band inscribed with the word "Liberty". This central portrait is encircled by thirteen stars, representing the original colonies, along with the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum" and the 1901 date of issue. The reverse displays a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping both an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows symbolizing strength. Encircling this central motif are the inscriptions "United States of America" and the denomination "One Dollar". The national motto, "In God We Trust", is positioned directly above the eagle. This particular coin survives in Very Fine condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation while retaining its essential design elements.
