1901-O Morgan Dollar XF

0.7734 troy oz .900 1901 Extra Fine

The 1901 Morgan Dollar represents a classic era of American silver coinage. Struck at the historic southern mint in New Orleans, as indicated by the 'O' mint mark, this specimen has survived in Extra Fine condition. It contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, blended into a 90 percent silver alloy that circulated widely across the United States during a period that spanned roughly 80 years. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is shown wearing a Phrygian cap, with her hair band displaying the word 'LIBERTY'. This central portrait is encircled by the Latin motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM', the year 1901, and thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The reverse displays a bald eagle with its wings spread, clutching both an olive branch of peace and arrows of strength. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and 'ONE DOLLAR', along with the national motto 'IN GOD WE TRUST' positioned above the bird.
