1902-1910 Great Britain Gold Sovereign Edward VII BU

0.2354 troy oz .9167 Brilliant Unc

Struck at The Royal Mint between 1902 and 1910, this British Gold Sovereign represents a classic era of coinage. The obverse presents the portrait of King Edward VII, captured in profile. Surrounding the monarch's image are abbreviated Latin inscriptions denoting his titles as King of all the Britains and Emperor of India. The reverse displays one of the most celebrated designs in numismatic history, crafted by Benedetto Pistrucci. It depicts the legendary combat of St. George on horseback, poised above a fallen dragon. This dynamic scene has long been a signature element of the sovereign series. Struck in 0.9167 fine gold, each piece contains 0.2354 troy ounces of actual precious metal. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, these coins allow observers to appreciate the fine details of Pistrucci's artistry and the sharp engraving of the royal portrait just as they emerged from the mint over a century ago.
