1902 $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle MS-63 PCGS

0.9675 troy oz .900 1902 PCGS

In 1902, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited run of just 31,140 of the twenty dollar gold coins known as the Liberty Gold Double Eagle. This particular specimen has survived the decades in remarkable condition, achieving a certified grade of Mint State 63 (MS-63). Because it was struck at the main Philadelphia facility, it carries no mint mark, representing the standard of American gold coinage from the turn of the twentieth century. Crafted from 90 percent gold, this double eagle contains 0.9675 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse features the classic profile of Liberty, her hair secured by a coronet inscribed with the word LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies and the date 1902. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle beneath a canopy of stars, accompanied by the traditional national mottos, IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the denomination spelled out as TWENTY DOLLARS.
