0.7734 troy oz .900 1902 Very Fine

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint at the turn of the twentieth century, this 1902 silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Because it was produced at the main Philadelphia facility, it carries no mint mark, leaving the space below the wreath clean. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal, and has survived in Very Fine condition, showing moderate wear while retaining its essential design elements. The obverse features a left facing portrait of Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap, a symbol of freedom, with the word Liberty clearly visible on her hair band. Encircling her profile are thirteen stars, the date 1902, and the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum. On the reverse, a bald eagle spreads its wings while grasping both an olive branch of peace and arrows of strength. The eagle is framed by a wreath, with the national motto In God We Trust inscribed directly above its head. The outer border is completed by the inscriptions United States of America and the denomination, One Dollar.
