The 1903 Morgan Silver Dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this piece is part of the beloved series designed in the late nineteenth century. It contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, minted with a purity of 0.900. This particular specimen survives in a circulated state, graded in Very Good to Very Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that likely passed through many hands in the early twentieth century. The obverse of the coin presents a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap decorated with a band inscribed with the word Liberty, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The Latin motto E Pluribus Unum and the 1903 date of issue frame her portrait. On the reverse, a bald eagle spreads its wings, clutching an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows symbolizing strength. The eagle is encircled by a wreath, with the national motto In God We Trust positioned directly above its head. The inscriptions United States of America and One Dollar run along the outer rim, completing this iconic piece of American history which saw a total mintage of 4,652,000 pieces.
