Struck during the early years of the twentieth century, this silver 10 Centesimos coin represents a fascinating moment of collaboration in monetary history. Although minted for use in Panama, the coin was actually produced by the United States Mint in Philadelphia. It represents a tangible connection to the early days of the Republic of Panama as an independent nation. Crafted from 90 percent pure silver, the coin contains 0.1447 troy ounces of precious metal. The inscriptions on the surface reflect the national identity of the issuing country, featuring the words REPUBLICA DE PANAMA alongside the denomination of DIEZ CENTESIMOS. The design also bears the year of issue, 1904, and details the weight and purity standards of the era with the text G. 5. LEY DE 0.900, honoring the explorer Balboa.
