In 1905, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited run of 58,919 gold coins in the twenty dollar denomination. Today, surviving examples from this specific year offer a direct look at the craftsmanship of early twentieth-century American minting. Strikingly preserved, this particular piece has been certified as Mint State 62 (MS-62), indicating it retains much of its original luster and detail despite the passage of more than a century. Crafted from 0.900 fine gold, this heavy coin contains 0.9675 troy ounces of precious metal. Because it was struck at the main Philadelphia facility, it bears no mint mark. The design features the iconic profile of Liberty on the obverse, accompanied by the legible inscription of her name on her coronet and the date 1905 below, representing a classic era of United States coinage before the major design overhauls of the late 1900s.
