1906-D $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle MS-63 PCGS

0.9675 troy oz .900 1906 PCGS

In 1906, the Denver facility of the United States Mint struck this impressive twenty-dollar gold piece, representing one of the final years for a classic American coin design. Created by James B. Longacre, this series was regularly produced from 1850 through 1907, making this particular issue a late representative of a historic era in United States coinage. Each of these substantial coins is composed of 0.900 fine gold, containing exactly 0.9675 troy ounces of the precious metal. The obverse of the coin features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty, her hair secured in a bun while loose curls cascade down her neck. She wears a coronet inscribed with her name, and thirteen stars encircle her profile to represent the original colonies, with the year 1906 anchored at the bottom. This example has been officially graded as Mint State 63 (MS-63), preserving the fine details of Longacre's engraving. On the reverse, a majestic eagle spreads its wings behind a central shield. The bird holds an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by thirteen stars and a halo of rays. The inscriptions on this side clearly display the issuing nation as the United States of America and the denomination as Twenty Dollars.
