1906 Indian Head Cent BU (Red/Brown)

0.0000 troy oz 1906 Brilliant Unc

The 1906 Indian Head Cent stands as a remarkable survivor from the early twentieth century, showcasing a vibrant red and brown copper luster. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this one-cent piece is composed of a durable alloy containing 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent made of tin and zinc. The obverse of the coin displays a stylized depiction of Liberty wearing an ornate native headdress, surrounded by the bold inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the year "1906" positioned at the bottom. Designed by James B. Longacre, this imagery offers a unique window into the artistic sensibilities of the era. On the reverse, the coin features the denomination "ONE CENT" nestled within a detailed wreath. A small shield sits at the very top of the design, while a bundle of arrows secured by a bow anchors the bottom of the wreath, creating a balanced and intricate composition.
