1906 Mexico Gold 10 Pesos BU

0.2411 troy oz .900 1906 Brilliant Unc

Struck in 1906, this Mexican ten pesos gold coin represents a fascinating era of coinage issued by the Banco de México. Minted in Mexico City, the piece is composed of 90 percent pure gold, containing exactly 0.2411 troy ounces of the precious metal. It survives today in brilliant uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its original engraving. The obverse of the coin displays the traditional Mexican coat of arms, featuring an eagle perched upon a cactus while gripping a snake in its beak. Surrounding this central image are the words "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS". On the reverse, the profile of Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla is depicted in fine detail. This side also bears the denomination "DIEZ PESOS", the 1906 year of issue, and the historic "M" mint mark representing the Mexico City Mint. This design belongs to a series produced between 1905 to 1920, and later in 1959.
