0.9675 troy oz .900 1907 NGC

In 1907, the Philadelphia Mint struck the final issues of a legendary gold coin design that had served American commerce for over half a century. This massive twenty dollar piece, containing 0.9675 troy ounces of gold at a purity of 0.900, represents the culmination of a series minted continuously from 1850 to 1907. The obverse of the coin presents a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty, her hair secured and adorned with a coronet bearing the inscription LIBERTY. On the reverse, a detailed heraldic eagle holds the central focus, surrounded by the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TWENTY DOLLARS. Designed by James Barton Longacre, this iconic imagery defined the look of America's highest-denomination circulating gold coinage during an era of immense national expansion.
