The year 1908 marked a fascinating moment in American coinage, as seen in this ten-dollar gold piece minted in Philadelphia. This particular version is known as the No Motto variety, presenting a clean and uncluttered design that allows the primary artistry to take center stage without the inclusion of the phrase "In God We Trust." On the obverse, a left-facing profile wears a native headdress, with the word LIBERTY clearly inscribed along the band. The reverse features a proud eagle standing among olive branches, accompanied by the national motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and the denomination TEN DOLLARS. Strikingly, only 33,500 of these coins were minted at the Philadelphia facility, which did not use a mint mark. Struck from 90 percent pure gold and containing 0.4838 troy ounces of precious metal, this historic coin has survived more than a century in remarkable condition. It has been certified by professional graders at Mint State 61 (MS-61), preserving a tangible look at early twentieth-century American numismatic artistry.
