1908 $2.50 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle MS-63 PCGS

0.1209 troy oz .900 1908 PCGS

In 1908, the United States Mint in Philadelphia produced a striking run of 564,821 gold Quarter Eagles that departed dramatically from conventional coin design. Unlike standard coins with raised relief, this 2.50 dollar gold piece features an incuse design, meaning the details are recessed directly into the flat surface of the coin. This unusual technique gives the coin a completely flat profile while protecting the intricate details of the artwork from wear. Struck from 90 percent pure gold with a metal content of 0.1209 troy ounces, this specific specimen has been certified in Mint State 63 (MS-63). Because it was minted in Philadelphia, it bears no mint mark. The reverse of the coin displays the classic national mottos, including the phrases IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the denomination of 2 1/2 DOLLARS and the country name, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
