In 1908, the Philadelphia mint produced a striking version of the twenty-dollar gold coin that stands out for what it does not include. This particular issue lacks the traditional religious motto, presenting a clean and uninterrupted view of the artistic vision created by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Minted from 1907 to 1933, this series represents a famous era of United States coinage. The front of the coin depicts a powerful image of Lady Liberty moving forward, holding a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. On the back, a magnificent bald eagle is captured mid flight. The reverse also bears the bold inscriptions identifying the nation as the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA alongside the face value of TWENTY DOLLARS. Struck with a gold purity of 0.900, each of these historic pieces contains exactly 0.9675 troy ounces of precious metal.
