Unlike typical coins with raised features, this gold half eagle features an incuse design, meaning the details are sunken below the flat surface of the coin. The obverse presents a striking profile of Liberty wearing a traditional Native American war bonnet. Thirteen stars encircle this central figure, representing the original colonies, while the word Liberty is inscribed upon her hair band and the date 1908 is positioned below the bust. On the reverse, a proud bald eagle stands amidst the classic inscriptions of United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and the five dollar denomination. Each coin is struck from 0.900 fine gold, containing 0.2419 troy ounces of precious metal, and has been certified by professional graders at a Mint State 63 level.
