The 1908 Indian Head Cent represents the penultimate year of one of America's most recognizable and enduring minor coin designs. Struck in Philadelphia, this particular specimen survives in brilliant uncirculated condition, retaining its original brown copper luster. Composed of an alloy containing 95 percent copper alongside a 5 percent mixture of tin and zinc, this small cent has preserved its intricate details for over a century. On the obverse, the design features a depiction of Liberty adorned in a traditional Native American feather headdress, a creative choice by designer James B. Longacre. The year 1908 is clearly struck at the bottom of the profile. The reverse of the coin is framed by a detailed wreath that encircles the central denomination, which reads simply and boldly as ONE CENT.
