In 1909, the Philadelphia Mint produced this twenty-dollar gold piece, a stunning example of the Saint-Gaudens design series. Containing 0.9675 troy ounces of gold, the coin is a heavy and impressive artifact of early twentieth-century American currency. This particular specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the intricate details of its celebrated artwork. The front of the coin displays a powerful image of Lady Liberty, depicted mid-stride with the radiant rays of a rising sun beaming behind her. On the reverse side, a magnificent bald eagle is captured mid-flight, soaring across the face of the coin. The back also bears the inscriptions identifying the nation as the United States of America and the denomination as Twenty Dollars. Along the edge, the traditional motto E Pluribus Unum is struck, with individual stars separating the words.
