0.4838 troy oz .900 1909 Almost Unc

Struck at the Denver Mint in 1909, this ten dollar gold piece represents a bold departure from traditional American coinage. The obverse features a profile of Lady Liberty wearing a Native American feathered war bonnet, with thirteen stars arching above her and the year of manufacture positioned at the bottom. The word LIBERTY is clearly visible along her headband. On the reverse, a proud bald eagle stands amidst several classic national mottos, including E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST. The country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, is inscribed alongside the face value, TEN DOLLARS. Designed by the celebrated sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this coin contains 0.4838 troy ounces of gold and is marked with a D to signify its Denver origin. It survives today in Almost Uncirculated condition, offering a fascinating window into a distinctive era of American design.
