The year 1909 marked the final chapter for one of America's most recognizable small cents. This particular copper coin, preserved in Extra Fine condition, represents the end of a design era that spanned half a century. Crafted from an alloy containing 95 percent copper alongside a 5 percent blend of tin and zinc, the coin showcases the artistry of James B. Longacre, who shaped the visual identity of United States minor coinage during the nineteenth century. The obverse features a distinct depiction of Liberty wearing a traditional Native American feather headdress, with the word LIBERTY clearly inscribed across the band. This design choice created a unique American icon that circulated widely during a period of rapid national growth. Surrounding the central figure is the name of the issuing nation, and the date 1909 is stamped boldly at the bottom. On the reverse, the coin features a minimalist and elegant layout.
