In 1909, the San Francisco Mint struck a limited run of 292,350 ten-dollar gold pieces, each containing 0.4838 troy ounces of pure gold within a 90 percent gold alloy. This particular specimen survives today in a well-preserved state, graded as About Uncirculated 55 (AU-55) to verify its exceptional condition and remaining luster. The obverse of this historic coin features a bold profile wearing a Native American war bonnet, with the date 1909 positioned at the bottom. On the reverse, a proud eagle stands amidst the classic national mottos, including the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The tiny "S" mint mark on the reverse confirms its origin from the legendary West Coast minting facility.
