The 1909-S Indian Head Cent represents the final chapter of a beloved era in United States coining. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this particular issue is highly sought after by enthusiasts due to its status as the very last year the Indian Head design was produced. Crafted from an alloy of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent composed of tin and zinc, this coin has survived in Very Fine condition, preserving the distinct details of its historic artwork. On the obverse, the design features Liberty adorned in a traditional Native American feather headdress, with the word LIBERTY clearly inscribed across the band. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA wraps around the border, framing the central figure above the 1909 date. This imagery, created by James B. Longacre, remains one of the most recognizable motifs in American numismatic history. The reverse of the coin displays the denomination ONE CENT boldly centered within a lush wreath. At the very top of the wreath sits a small shield, while the bottom features a bundle of arrows bound together by a ribbon bow.
