The 1910 gold quarter eagle stands out as a remarkable specimen of American coinage, showcasing a distinctive incuse design where the details are sunken below the flat surface of the coin. This unusual minting technique gives the piece a unique tactile feel and a visual depth that differs from traditional raised-relief coins. Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, this issue belongs to a series struck between 1908 to 1929. On the obverse, the coin displays a masculine representation of Liberty wearing a traditional feathered headdress. Thirteen stars encircle this central figure, representing the original colonies, with the word LIBERTY positioned along the top edge and the date 1910 inscribed below. The design was created by Bela Lyon Pratt, who departed from conventional classical allegories to present a more localized theme. The reverse features a proud bald eagle standing amidst the essential national mottos.
