In 1910, the Denver Mint produced a significant run of ten dollar gold pieces, totaling 2,356,640 coins. This specific issue showcases a bold departure from traditional American coinage imagery, presenting a distinct vision of Liberty on the obverse. Instead of a classical crown or cap, Liberty is depicted wearing a Native American war bonnet, with her hair bound by a band carrying the word LIBERTY. Thirteen stars arch over her head, representing the original colonies, while the year 1910 is positioned at the bottom of the design. The reverse side of the coin is dedicated to a majestic bald eagle standing proudly. The bird is surrounded by several traditional national mottos, including E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the issuing authority, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the face value, TEN DOLLARS. This entire artistic concept was envisioned by the renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Struck from 0.900 fine gold, each coin contains 0.4838 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen has been preserved in About Uncirculated 58 condition, retaining much of its original luster and detail from the day it was minted in Colorado over a century ago.
