In 1910, the Denver Mint struck a remarkable ten-dollar gold piece that challenged traditional American coin design. This coin, graded in Almost Uncirculated condition, is composed of 90 percent gold and contains 0.4838 troy ounces of the precious metal. It represents a fascinating era of American coinage when traditional symbols were reimagined with bold, nationalistic imagery. The obverse of the coin presents a distinctive profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a Native American ceremonial war bonnet instead of her traditional classical crown. Thirteen stars arch over her head to represent the original colonies, while the word LIBERTY is clearly inscribed across her hair band. The year 1910 is positioned directly beneath her portrait. The reverse features a powerful bald eagle standing proudly. The bird is surrounded by several traditional inscriptions, including the country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the denomination, TEN DOLLARS. The sacred mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM are also integrated into the design, completing a masterpiece envisioned by the celebrated sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
