During the reign of King George V, Australia issued a beautiful sterling silver sixpence that captured the identity of a young nation. Struck between 1911 and 1936, these coins contain 92.5 percent pure silver, representing a total precious metal content of 0.0839 troy ounces. Each piece carries the physical evidence of its journey through daily commerce, preserved in average circulated condition. The obverse of the coin displays a left-facing crowned portrait of King George V. Surrounding his likeness is a traditional Latin inscription, partially visible in surviving specimens as D.G. BRITT. The reverse features the Australian coat of arms, where a kangaroo and an emu stand on either side of a central shield. The year of issue is positioned at the top, while the denomination is spelled out clearly at the bottom of the design.
