In 1911, the San Francisco mint struck this magnificent twenty dollar gold piece, which today stands as a certified Mint State 63 survivor of early twentieth-century American coinage. Containing 0.9675 troy ounces of gold with a purity of 0.900, this issue belongs to a celebrated series produced from 1907 to 1933. The coin represents a high point in national coinage design, showcasing the artistic vision of sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The front of the coin presents a powerful image of Lady Liberty moving forward, holding a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other to signify enlightenment and peace. On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle is captured mid-flight, soaring across the design.
