Struck in Philadelphia, this 2.50 dollar piece features an incuse design, meaning the details and inscriptions are pressed deep into the coin's surface rather than raised above it. This flat, recessed relief gives the coin a completely flat field and a highly distinctive appearance. On the obverse, a Native American figure wearing a detailed war bonnet faces left, surrounded by thirteen stars. The reverse displays a proud eagle standing on a bundle of arrows, which is wrapped in an olive branch.
