The 1913 Mexican Silver Peso, widely known by its popular nickname "Caballito," stands as one of the most visually striking examples of early twentieth-century coinage. Struck in Mexico City, this coin is composed of 90.3 percent silver, containing approximately 0.7859 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a total mintage of 2,880,000 pieces, each carrying the catalog designation KM 453. This particular specimen survives in a well-preserved Very Fine condition. The reverse of the coin features a breathtaking and energetic depiction of Liberty riding astride a horse. She holds a laurel branch aloft in one hand and a burning torch in the other, set against the backdrop of a rising sun with brilliant rays. The year of issue, 1913, is clearly displayed at the bottom of this side. On the obverse, the coin displays the traditional Mexican coat of arms, which depicts a powerful eagle perched upon a cactus while gripping a snake in its beak, surrounded by the national inscription.
