0.4838 troy oz .900 1913 Almost Unc

The 1913 ten-dollar gold piece minted in San Francisco stands as a remarkable example of American coinage from the early twentieth century. Struck from 0.900 fine gold, this coin contains 0.4838 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a creative departure from traditional allegorical figures, showcasing a design created by the renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This particular series was struck by the United States Mint from 1907 to 1933. On the obverse side, Lady Liberty is depicted wearing an elaborate Native American war bonnet. She is encircled by thirteen stars representing the original colonies, with the word Liberty inscribed upon her hair band and the year 1913 positioned at the bottom. This bold imagery offers a distinctively American interpretation of a classic numismatic theme. The reverse of the coin features a powerful bald eagle standing proudly. The inscriptions on this side include the issuing nation, United States of America, along with the traditional motto E Pluribus Unum. The face value is clearly marked as Ten Dollars. This specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the intricate details of both the feathers on the eagle and the feathers of the war bonnet.
