The 1914 five-cent piece stands as a classic representative of early twentieth-century American coinage. Created by the sculptor James Earle Fraser, this issue from the Philadelphia Mint showcases a design deeply rooted in the imagery of the American West. The coin is struck in a non-precious metal alloy, yet its artistic value remains incredibly high among enthusiasts who appreciate the transition of United States coinage into more expressive, sculptural themes. On the obverse, a detailed profile of a Native American facing right dominates the field, with the date 1914 clearly visible. The reverse features a powerful depiction of an American bison standing on a mound.
