This five-cent piece from 1915 offers a tangible connection to early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck at the Denver Mint, the coin carries the distinctive "D" mint mark on its reverse. Despite its heavily circulated Almost Good condition, the classic design elements remain recognizable, telling a story of decades spent passing through the hands of everyday Americans. Created by sculptor James Earle Fraser, the coin's imagery departs from traditional representations of Liberty. The front of the nickel presents a powerful profile of a Native American chieftain. On the back, a massive American bison stands atop a raised mound of earth. The reverse also bears the traditional Latin motto PLURIBUS UNUM and the denomination FIVE CENTS, elements that continue to define the nation's currency.
