1915-S $20 St Gaudens Gold Double Eagle AU
Struck in the year 1915 at the San Francisco Mint, this twenty dollar gold piece represents a remarkable era of American coinage. The coin is crafted from 0.900 fine gold, containing 0.9675 troy ounces of precious metal. It survives today in an Almost Uncirculated state, preserving the intricate details of its celebrated artistry. The obverse features a powerful depiction of Lady Liberty as she strides forward, illuminated by the radiant rays of a rising sun. On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle is captured mid-flight, soaring across the design. This side also bears the bold inscriptions identifying the nation as the United States of America and denoting the face value as Twenty Dollars. Adding to its unique character, the edge of the coin is not reeded but instead features an incuse inscription. The traditional Latin motto, E Pluribus Unum, is spelled out along the rim, with raised stars elegantly positioned to divide the words.
