In 1916, the San Francisco mint struck a remarkable gold coin that remains a high point of American numismatic design. This twenty dollar piece, containing 0.9675 troy ounces of gold, belongs to the celebrated series produced between 1907 and 1933. This specific specimen has survived in exceptional condition, certified by professional graders at Mint State 65. The obverse of the coin presents a powerful image of Lady Liberty, who steps forward while holding a lit torch and an olive branch. Behind her, dramatic rays of sunlight emanate from the horizon. The reverse displays a majestic bald eagle captured mid flight above a rising sun, accompanied by the clear inscriptions of the issuing nation, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the face value, TWENTY DOLLARS. The entire composition was envisioned by the sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, whose work transformed the nation's coinage.
