The 1917 Walking Liberty half dollar represents an early entry in one of America's most celebrated silver coin series. Minted at the Denver facility, this fifty-cent piece carries the 'D' mint mark on its reverse side. Composed of 90% silver, the coin contains approximately 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Created by sculptor Adolph Weinman, the coin's design is highly regarded for its artistic movement. The obverse depicts Lady Liberty walking gracefully toward a rising sun, cradling a bundle of branches in her arm. On the reverse, a powerful eagle is shown perched on a rocky outcrop, wings slightly spread as if preparing to take flight.
