0.0715 troy oz .900 1917 Almost Unc

Struck in 1917 at the San Francisco Mint, this ten-cent silver piece is a celebrated example of United States coinage from the Pre-1933 era. Composed of 90 percent silver with a metal content of 0.0715 troy ounces, the coin is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original detail and luster from over a century ago. The obverse displays a youthful depiction of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element that famously led the public to mistake her for the Roman messenger god Mercury. Accompanying this portrait are the inscriptions 'IN GOD WE TRUST' and the year '1917'. On the reverse, the design presents a bundle of rods bound around an ax, known as a fasces, alongside a leafy olive branch. The traditional motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' is inscribed on this side, surrounded by the issuing authority 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and the denomination 'ONE DIME'. This combination of imagery and text makes the Mercury Dime series a favorite among those who appreciate classic American coin designs.
