Struck in the early twentieth century, this ten-cent silver piece from the San Francisco Mint showcases one of the most celebrated designs in American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Having circulated through daily commerce, this specimen exhibits a wear pattern typical of its Good to Very Good condition, where the outer rim may merge slightly with the design elements. The obverse presents a youthful personification of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a powerful symbol of freedom of thought. Surrounding this central figure is the motto IN GOD WE TRUST alongside the date 1917. On the reverse, the design features a traditional Roman fasces entwined with an olive branch, representing both strength and peace. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DIME, and E PLURIBUS UNUM encircle the reverse, accompanied by the S mint mark indicating its origin at the San Francisco facility.
