Struck in 1918, this Mexican gold coin carries a face value of twenty pesos and contains 0.4823 troy ounces of pure gold. Issued by the Banco de México, this piece belongs to a design series produced from 1917 to 1921, and later in 1959. This specific specimen survives in About Uncirculated condition, meaning the design details remain remarkably complete, showing only minor wear on the highest points of the relief while retaining a significant portion of its original mint luster. The obverse features the traditional Mexican coat of arms, displaying a golden eagle perched on a cactus as it devours a snake. The year of issue, 1918, is placed just below the wing of the eagle. On the reverse, the coin showcases a highly detailed representation of the ancient Aztec Calendar Stone. Surrounding this central design is a legend indicating the denomination alongside the metal content of the piece.
