1918-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar Fine

0.3575 troy oz .900 1918 Fine

The 1918 silver half dollar, struck at the San Francisco Mint, represents a high point in United States coinage design. Crafted from 90 percent silver, this fifty-cent piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. It carries the wear and character of a coin graded in Fine condition, showing the honest circulation of an era long past. On the obverse, Adolph Weinman's classic design depicts Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward a rising sun, her shoulders draped in the American flag as she cradles a bundle of branches. This side also bears the year 1918 and the hopeful phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST." The reverse presents a powerful eagle perched upon a rugged mountain crag, wings partially spread as if preparing to launch into flight. Alongside the eagle, the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is displayed, accompanied by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR."
