1918 Walking Liberty Half Dollar Fine

0.3575 troy oz .900 1918 Fine

The 1918 Walking Liberty half dollar is a stunning example of early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, this fifty-cent piece carries a net silver content of 0.3575 troy ounces. Even in Fine condition, the coin retains the essential elements of its celebrated artistry, showing the honest wear of a coin that circulated during a pivotal moment in global history. Created by the renowned sculptor Adolph Weinman, the obverse of the coin displays a powerful image of Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward a rising sun. She carries a bundle of branches in her arm, symbolizing peace and strength. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is visible on this side, alongside the 1918 year of issue. The reverse side of the coin presents a bold, naturalistic depiction of an eagle. Perched firmly upon a mountain crag, the eagle is shown with its wings partially spread, preparing to take flight. The traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is featured on this side, along with the denomination "HALF DOLLAR" and the country name "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."
