The 1919 Buffalo nickel struck at the Denver Mint offers a tangible connection to early twentieth century American coinage. Even in an Almost Good state of preservation, this five cent piece retains the essential character of its celebrated artwork. The coin represents a distinct era in United States currency, showcasing a rugged aesthetic that departed from traditional classical allegories. On the obverse, the profile of a Native American chief faces right, accompanied by the word LIBERTY. The reverse displays an American bison standing upon a raised mound of earth. Positioned beneath the animal is the Denver Mint's D mark, alongside the denomination of FIVE CENTS and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
