The 10 cent piece minted in 1919 offers a fascinating glimpse into early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, this dime contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It is commonly referred to as the Mercury Dime, though the central figure is actually a youthful personification of Liberty. On the obverse, Liberty wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with wings, a design element crafted by Adolph Weinman. The year 1919 is clearly visible beneath her portrait. On the reverse side, the design transitions to a bundle of rods known as a fasces, paired alongside a peaceful olive branch. The rim of this coin remains well defined, showcasing its Very Fine state of preservation despite more than a century of existence.
