Struck in 1919, this ten-cent silver piece from the United States showcases one of the most celebrated designs in American coinage. Known popularly as the Mercury Dime, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900. This particular specimen is preserved in Extra Fine condition, displaying the fine details of its artistry with minimal wear from its time in circulation. The obverse of the coin features a youthful depiction of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a powerful symbol of freedom of thought. This striking image, created by designer Adolph Weinman, was so distinctive that the public frequently associated the winged cap with the Roman messenger god, Mercury, giving the series its famous nickname. The legend of Liberty and the national motto are integrated into the design. On the reverse, the coin presents a thoughtful combination of symbols: a fasces, which represents strength and unity, alongside an olive branch, signifying a deep desire for peace. The inscriptions on this side include the country of origin and the traditional Latin phrase, E Pluribus Unum.
