1919 Mexico Gold 20 Pesos BU
This gold coin from 1919 is a striking example of Mexican numismatic artistry, struck with a gold purity of 0.900 and containing 0.4823 troy ounces of precious metal. With a historical mintage of 1,094,000 pieces, this coin survives today in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its complex, culturally rich imagery. On one side, the coin displays the national symbol of Mexico: a golden eagle perched atop a cactus, gripping a snake in its beak. The surrounding inscription reads ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, identifying the issuing nation. The year of production, 1919, is also clearly visible on this face. The other side is dominated by the spectacular Cuauhxicalli Eagle Bowl, commonly known as the Aztec Calendar or Sun Stone. This incredibly detailed pre-Columbian design is encircled by the denomination, Veinte Pesos, along with inscriptions indicating the weight of pure gold, including the words PESO ORO PURO.
