This ten-cent piece from 1919 represents a classic era of United States coinage, struck at the San Francisco Mint. Composed of 90 percent silver with a precious metal weight of 0.0715 troy ounces, this coin is a well-preserved survivor of the early twentieth century, graded in Almost Uncirculated condition. The obverse features a striking portrait of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design crafted by sculptor Adolph Weinman. Though often referred to as the Mercury Dime due to the cap's resemblance to the Roman messenger god, the image was intended to symbolize freedom of thought. The legend 'IN GOD WE TRUST' is inscribed alongside the profile. On the reverse, Weinman placed a fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an axe, paired with an olive branch.
