Struck over a century ago at the San Francisco Mint, this 10 cent silver piece represents a classic era of United States coinage. Despite its age and the wear consistent with a Fine grade, the coin retains its essential design elements, including a complete rim that frames both sides of the piece. On the obverse, the design by Adolph Weinman showcases a youthful depiction of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, an image that captured the public imagination and led to the popular, though technically inaccurate, nickname of the Mercury Dime. The reverse displays a fasces paired with an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace.
