The 1919 silver half dollar minted in San Francisco represents a classic era of United States coinage. The bird is depicted with its wings spread wide, holding an olive branch in its right talon as a symbol of peace. The San Francisco mint mark, a small letter S, is located on this side alongside the traditional national mottoes and the half dollar denomination.
